Using a $50 3-9x40 "walmart special" scope, I can shoot 4 inch groups at 100 yards with cheap surplus mil ammo, (probably better if I really tried harder for accuracy instead of firing shots 1-2 seconds apart.) It is capable of 2 inch groups, from what I have read. Still, on the whole, I've been quite pleased with mine. It isn't quite as accurate or easy to break down as an AR-15, and AR-15's have a lot more aftermarket mods and such. It breaks down fairly easily, and is tolerant of metiocre or cheap ammo better than an AR-15 is. The action is very similar to an M1/M14, really. It is a little more crudely made than a AR-15 clone, but it is also a more field friendly gun (tolerates abuse and dirt a little better in my experience). Ruger mini-14's have a lot of aftermarket parts like their 10/22 cousins.
